Phoenix – Brandy Reed just missed out on a triple-double for the Mercury as she scored 22 points grabbed nine rebounds and handed out eight assists in Phoenix’s 12-point win over the Shock. The Merc used an 11-0 run early in the game to take a 10-point lead with 11:22 to go in the first. Detroit cut the lead to one on two occasions before halftime, but trailed by four at the break.
The Shock took their lone lead of the second half with 14:04 to go, 42-40, but a 15-0 Phoenix run essentially ended the game. The Mercury benefited a great deal from the free throw line, outscoring the Shock 21-3 in that department. Claudia Maria das Neves led the Shock with 12 points.
