Uncasville - Despite Taj McWilliams-Franklin posting a career high in points (28), the Connecticut Sun were unable to hold off the Detroit Shock as they improved to 6-1 on the season. With the win, the Shock tied a franchise record for consecutive wins. With Detroit up nine, 66-27, to start the second half, Connecticut forced four lead changes and four ties during the second half, including a Rebecca Lobo three-pointer with 21.4 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. Nykesha Sales followed up McWilliams-Franklin with 13 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds on the night.
The Detroit Shock’s Cheryl Ford’s picked up a career high in rebounds (21) while scoring 12 points on her way to getting her fifth double-double this season. All five Detroit starters once again scored in double digits with Swin Cash scoring 22, Ruth Riley and Elaine Powell scoring 16 a piece and Deanna Nolan adding 15.
