Charlotte– Detroit lost their third game in their last four contests and their third in a row to Charlotte this season. Detroit recorded a franchise-record 11 blocks as the starters combined for 175 of the team’s 200 minutes and 50 of the team’s 58 points. Down 11 at the half, the Shock would never see the lead in the second half, coming as close as four, 56-52, with 1:27 remaining. Rookie forward Cheryl Ford scored 13 of her career-high 20 points and grabbed nine of her 14 rebounds in the second half. She also had a career-high four blocks. Detroit blocked as many as nine in the first half, 17-8, with 11:32 remaining, but Charlotte outscored the Shock 26-3 over the next 10 minutes, taking a 34-20lead with 1:36 left in the first half. Swin Cash and Deanna Nolan added 11 points each for Detroit while Charlotte was led by Tammy Sutton-Brown’s 17 points and Kelly Miller tied her career high in assists with five.
