Charlotte – Elena Tornikidou scored 25 points missing just two of 13 shots on the night to help give the Shock a three-point win over the Sting. Neither team led by more than seven points, trading the lead on eight occasions. Detroit took a three-point lead into halftime, but Charlotte roared out of the locker room scoring 12 of the first 14 points of the half.
The Sting still led by five, 70-65, with 8:41 to go in the game, but the Shock went on a 15-5 run over the next four-plus minutes to take the lead for good. Shalonda Enis’ 18 points led the Sting, and Dawn Staley just missed a double-double with nine points and nine assists.
