Detroit Shock 73, Charlotte Sting 80
Auburn Hills - Detroit etched its name in the record books once again with its 12th consecutive loss breaking the previous mark of 11 which they had shared with the Washington Mystics who lost 11 straight from July 13 to August 7, 1998. The game was tight for most of the night, with the teams tied at 53 apiece with 11:02 to go in the second, but the sting went on a 22-11 run over the next eight minutes to take an 11-point lead. The Shock managed to pull to within four at 77-73 with 27.2 seconds left on the clock, but that was as close as they could get. Dominique Canty led Detroit with 17 points while Swin Cash (15 points), Wendy Palmer (15) and Astou Ndiaye-Diatta (14) also scored in double figures. Andres Stinson led all scorers with 22 points.
