HOW SHE FITS
As told to ESPN.com's Graham Hayes:
"She's such a great player, and the reason she's such a great player is she's so relentless in how she plays and how she approaches the game," Xavier coach Kevin McGuff said. "She's a perfectionist, and she just doesn't let a day go by where she's not trying to get better, not trying to impact our team in a positive way. With Shanna Crossley out for the year, Pohlen's incredible mark from outside could possibly fill her void on the perimeter and the scoring department. Although not the fastest point guard in the draft, her size at the guard spot will bother many players in the WNBA and complement small scoring guards Ivory Latta and Andrea Riley extremely well.
"You can just see when she plays, I don't know that there's a post payer in America who plays harder or is more relentless about just being a dominant player."
Size, skill and a relentless work ethic is a combination that many would be fond of. One-half of the twin towers along with teammate and top-five draft prospect, Amber Harris, Phillips has experience sharing the paint and floor with another WNBA-ready pro for the last few years.
Assuming her rebounding numbers translate in the WNBA, Phillips would provide much needed help in the paint for the Shock in 2011 and for years to come.
