Shanna Crossley To Miss 2011 Season

Tulsa Shock captain Shanna Crossley will miss the 2011 WNBA season due to a knee injury suffered overseas in Turkey this past off-season.

“Shanna (Crossley) was a leader both on and off the court for the Shock and she will be sorely missed this upcoming season,” Head Coach Nolan Richardson said. “We will assist her on her road to recovery in any way we can and look forward to seeing her healthy and ready to play in 2012.”

Crossley, a University of Tennessee graduate, started 16 of the 30 games she appeared in for the Shock in 2010. In 21.3 minutes/game, she averaged 9.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting a team best 42.2 percent from three.

Crossley underwent surgery on her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on January 26 and is currently in the process of rehabbing.

Three years ago, Crossley also tore her left ACL causing her to miss the 2008 season. After an off-season of recovery; she returned to the court in 2009 only to tear her meniscus in the same left knee, holding her to just 20 games for the season.
