Riley and Stinson joined panelists from Lennox, Michigan Nurses Association, Health Alliance Plan, Medical Weight Loss Clinic, Michigan Army National Guard, Michigan Steps Up and Detroit Southeastern High School of Technology.
The Teen Forum was a first for both Riley and Stinson, but they both shared stories and offered advice openly to the 300 or so incoming freshmen from Detroit Public Schools.
The Shock Steps to Success program emphasizes strategies for young men and women to use to help them make positive choices and incorporate a positive value system in their everyday lives. Now part of the Year Round Hoops community relations platform, the teen forum provides a different environment for young people to talk about issues that are pertinent to their success. The Steps to Success panel emphasizes positive development in young women, and included discussions on goal setting and attainment, time management, self-image, education, and women in the workforce. Steps to Success is presented by Lennox, Michigan Nurses Association, Health Alliance Plan, Medical Weight Loss Clinic, Michigan Army National Guard, Michigan Steps Up and Michigan Hand & Sports Rehabilitation Centers.
