“One of the goals of the Steps to Success program is to reach out to the right group of teenagers,” said Farris, who has been participating in Shock programs like this since 2001. “The group at Methodist Children’s Home Society have so much potential to become outstanding young members of society and should really benefit from this program – Deanna and I are both very excited to be a part of it.”
Immediately following the event each student received a Steps to Success T-Shirt and a gift bag, complimentary of the Detroit Shock. The Pistons and Shock Year Round Hoops Truck was also available in the parking lot for those who attended the event.
“Events like this are great for the teenagers involved,” said David Paull of Medical Weight Loss Clinic. “They need to hear advice and positive stories as to how they can accomplish their goals.”
“It’s so important to have forums like these. The Shock do a great job of getting out a positive message through all of their programs,” said Darcell. “I love being a part of the growth and development of kids who need it most and that is what this program focuses on.”
