Shock Introduce ‘Be Yourself’ Bracelets

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The WNBA Detroit Shock have introduced a new initiative to benefit fitness and literacy programs in the metro Detroit area. Fans can purchase Detroit Shock "Be Yourself" bracelets at each of the Shock's five remaining home games in The Palace west atrium or on the concourse outside the Cingular Club, starting this Sunday, August 7 when the Shock take on the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. at The Palace. The bracelets will sell for $2, with all proceeds going to the Palace Foundation for literacy purposes. Bracelets will be-on sale at the Palace Locker Room Store located inside The Palace and online immediately at www.detroitshock.com. Adult and youth sizes are available.

“Through this initiative, we give our fans the opportunity to wear something that signifies their allegiance to the Detroit Shock, makes a statement about self-esteem, and generates money for more community programming,” said Kristin Bernert, Shock Vice President of Operations. “Needless to say, we're very excited about it.”

The WNBA Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself initiative is aimed at encouraging children, teens and women of all ages to learn more about their bodies and the importance of physical fitness. The Shock bracelets have the text ‘Be Yourself’ which exemplifies reaching a high self-esteem level through proper education, healthy eating choices, fitness and overall positive effort on a daily basis.
