RuthAnn and Rebecca Lobo Scholarship in Allied Health
My goal is to raise at least $100,000 to endow a permanent scholarship fund

With the support of the University of Connecticut Foundation, my mom and I are launching the RuthAnn and Rebecca Lobo Scholarship in Allied Health. I am thrilled to be able to use my influence with young people to encourage them to pursue an education and rewarding career. This scholarship fund will give me that opportunity. The scholarship will be available to high school seniors and University of Connecticut freshmen planning to enroll in the School of Allied Health.

Any support you can give will encourage more diversity in the health care professions and expand opportunities for young Hispanics and African Americans. You will be able to feel confident that more people in our community will find solace in the trust of a healthcare worker who has a similar background and understanding of their community.

I have had great success as a basketball player and am very proud of my college degree. I am also tremendously thankful for the opportunities that basketball has provided me. However, I am most thankful for the health care professionals who cared for my mother during her battle with cancer.

I am asking you to help us give young Hispanic and African American students the chance to assist others the way the health care professionals assisted my family.

We have committed $25,000 to the RuthAnn and Rebecca Lobo Scholarship. That will be matched by $13,500 from the state of Connecticut. However, my personal goal is to raise at least $100,000 to endow a permanent scholarship fund.

I can't do it without you. Please consider a gift to this important effort.

Checks can be made payable to: "R & R LOBO SCHOLARSHIP, UCONN FOUNDATION" and mailed to Dr. Cynthia Adams, Associate Dean, School of Allied Health, 358 Mansfield Road, The University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269-2101.

Thank you for your generosity.
