In the regular season series between Seattle and Phoenix, the Storm finished one up on the Mercury, taking the series 2-1. When the two teams met up in the first round of the postseason, it didn't take three games to decide it as Phoenix won two straight to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

The Mercury have credited their success to their offense all season long and the postseason has been no different. Cappie Pondexter, a crucial component of Phoenix's offensive strategies along with fellow All-Star teammates Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor, is this week's Peak Performer.

In Game 1, Phoenix's sizzling triple threat kept firing away and hosed down Seattle, combining for 65 points. Pondexter had 21 on the night, but her ability to make shots matched her willingness to give them up, as she posted a game-high eight assists. Also dependable from the line, Pondexter hit 4-4 from the charity stripe. Defensively, the Rutgers alum played tough with three steals and five rebounds. Her efforts helped Phoenix snatch a Game 1 win on the road.

Phoenix got off to an early lead in Game 2 on Sunday. They remained ahead until the fourth quarter, until the Storm made a run and eventually tied the game at 85 with 2:50 left on the clock. Phoenix fought to regain the lead as Taurasi hit a three-pointer and Pondexter made a pair of free throws. In the end, the Mercury triumphed 95-89 to take the series. On the night, Pondexter hit all 10 of her shots from the line and notched a game-high 25 points along with five rebounds and a steal.

The Mercury are the only team in the league to sweep a series in the first round of the 2007 playoffs. And they have their offense to thank. Along with her high-scoring teammates, Cappie Pondexter has played a major role in both hitting shots and setting up her teammates and has her squad looking like a solid pick for the Finals. For her aggressiveness on offense and her efforts on defense, Cappie Pondexter is this week's Peak Performer.
