The Connecticut Sun finished the season on a high note, winning 12 games in a row coming down the stretch before faltering in a loss to the Fever where Coach Mike Thilbault rested some players. The Sun are looking for their first championship in team history after losing back-to-back Finals in 2004 and 2005. The Sun, who feature five All-Stars, are also entering the postseason with the league's best record and a 15-3 record against the Eastern Conference. So is the third time a charm? That's the question Sun fans, coaches and players are asking themselves entering the postseason. The Washington Mystics, on the other hand, are making their first playoff appearance since losing to the Sun back in the first-round of the 2004 playoffs. Yet this is a very different team, bringing in Nikki Teasley and DeLisha Milton-Jones, two players withe considerable playoffs experience. The Mystics hovered around .500 for much of the season but closed out the season strong despite having a difficult time winning on the road. The Mystics are led by two-time All-Star Alana Beard and Milton-Jones, who finished the season with the best scoring numbers of her eight-year career. Mystics coach Richie Adubato has playoff experience and will have his team ready for the Best of the East.

Douglas	All-Star M.V.P. Katie Douglas averaged 21.3 against the Mystics this season, almost five points per game above her season average. Washington's Alana Beard's scoring numbers decreased in each meeting this season. In the first meeting she scored 29, second meeting 15, and third meeting 9. Yet the two-time WNBA All-Star still scored a career-high 19 points per game. After defeating Connecticut, 67-59, at home in Game 1 in the first-round of the 2004 Playoffs, the Sun won the next two games by an average of 15 points per game to win the series, 2-1. Yet, the Mystics were 13-4 at home this season. Nykesha Sales missed 12 games during the 2006 season due to an injured left Achilles and made her return scoring eight points in 19 minutes in an 85-59 victory over the Chicago Sky on August 8. the sun went 14-3 in their home games at the Mohegan Sun Arena and will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
