2001 WNBA Playoffs CLEVELAND (2) vs. CHARLOTTE (4)
June 30, 2001
Tammy Sutton-Brown, a rookie inserted into the starting lineup after the Sting set a franchise record with seven straight losses, scored 14 points Saturday night to lead Charlotte to a 58-55 upset over the Cleveland Rockers.
It was the third straight victory for the Sting, improving them to 4-10, and the surge coincides with Sutton-Brown's debut in the starting lineup.
She also had three blocks against the Eastern Division-leading Rockers, who had their WNBA-best seven-game winning streak snapped.
"I'm feeling very comfortable with my new role," Sutton-Brown said. "It's exciting because we've been digging deep and playing with heart over the past week."

Ann Wauters scored 15 points and Cleveland's defense shut down Charlotte from the opening tip Saturday night and gave the Rockers their sixth straight win, 56-41.
The Rockers' relentless defense forced the Sting into 24 turnovers, shut out Charlotte's leading scorer Andrea Stinson and earned praise from their coach.
"Defensively, this is the type of game we want to put a stamp on," Rockers coach Dan Hughes said. "We were able to establish a tempo and set the tone. That looked like a lot of the defense I've seen this year."
Mery Andrade added 13 points and Rushia Brown 11 for the Rockers, whose league-leading defense helped them avenge an earlier loss this season to Charlotte and gave the Sting (9-13) fits all night.
Stinson was held without a point after missing all five of her shots in 21 minutes.

Stinson scored 21 points to lead the Sting to a 55-53 victory over the Cleveland Rockers on Friday night.
The game was a preview of a first-round playoff matchup between the Rockers, the No. 1 seed in the East, and the fourth-seeded Sting.
"I am feeling very good about this," Sting coach Anne Donovan said. "It sets a tone for how the playoffs are going to go."
"It's better to lose to them now than in the playoffs," Rockers forward Mery Andrade said. "We needed to do the little things. We do those and we'll be all right."
Merlakia Jones led Cleveland with 15 points. She hit a 3-pointer with 17.8 seconds left that pulled the Rockers within 54-53.
