SEE WHAT THE STING FORWARD HAD TO SAY IN HER LIVE CHAT
One-on-One with Allison Feaster

Feaster

So it took the Sting a bit of time to find their chemistry after a major trade last October that brought in Allison Feaster and Clarisse Machanguana for Rhonda Mapp and E.C. Hill in a trade with the Sparks. The Sting started their season 1-10, but then came together and hit their stride at the right time. They made the playoffs and upset the top-seeded Rockers in the first round.

Feaster has been a large part of this success. She went from being a role-player with the Sparks, to starting every game this season for the Sting. She's averaging career highs in nearly every category -- 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Her shooting is deadly accurate from the outside, with her 92.1 free throw percentage and 55 three-point field goals made rank second and fifth respectively in the WNBA.

The Sting have momentum and confidence going into the Eastern Conference Finals and Feaster was excited to tell you all about it. This Harvard grad stopped by for a live chat on WNBA.com on Thursday, Aug. 23.

Hello, Allison. Congrats on advancing to the second round of the Eastern Conference Finals. How does it feel to be able to play in such a magnificant event? What are some things that you and the Sting need to do against this strong Liberty team? Good luck and God bless!!

Allison Feaster at 6:20pm ET
Thanks so much. It feels wonderful to be in the conference finals on the other side of the country. The Sting need to believe in ourselves and our goals and that's to win a WNBA Championship.

Hello Allison,
I wanted to say hello, and say congratulations to you and your teammates for making it into the playoffs. You deserve it, and I really admire you and your teammate Dawn Staley. I have two questions for you: what do you like to do when you're not playing basketball, and what are you looking forward as you get ready to play against the Liberty? Good luck and God bless you.

Allison Feaster at 6:23pm ET
When I'm not playing basketball, I like to spend time with my family, one-year-old nephew and four-year-old niece. When I'm in France, I don't have much time to spend with them.

As far as the series goes, I'm looking forward to an intense battle with a great New York team, looking to play great defense and get to the Championship Series.

Hi Allison. Congrats on making it to the Eastern Conference Finals. I know you don't remember me but we played together out in New Mexico for the Sandhills AAU basketball team. I am very happy to see that you are now playing in the pros and doing a great job. Was it a hard transition to make coming from the Sparks to the Sting? Take care. I will be cheering for you guys ...

Allison Feaster at 6:24pm ET
I do remember you. Thanks for the support. The transition was an easy one because I'm so close to home. My Sting teammates are the best since I've started playing professional basketball. So, it's been easy.
Terry Todd from iro.ptd.net at 6:24pm ET
Noboby expected you to be where you are now ... that it is a fluke. Does that make you more inspired to get to the finals?

Allison Feaster at 6:26pm ET
It inspired us tremendously because there were no expectations for us. Everyone overlooked us, so there's no pressure. None from the media. None from the fans. We've always believed in ourselves and our goal, and that's to make the WNBA Championship.
jay j from proxy.aol.com at 6:26pm ET
Do you think your team has what it takes to win the championship? Explain.

Allison Feaster at 6:27pm ET
There are a lot of talented teams still out there, and I believe in the Sting and our ability to possibly win the title. I do believe in our chances.
ladyballer4010 at 6:27pm ET
Hey! Congrats on advancing to the second round! I was just wondering if there's anything you and your team does to get pumped up before a game such as listen to music, etc.? Thanks!

Allison Feaster at 6:29pm ET
We like to sit around and talk after we arrive at the gym. We like to see what each other is wearing. Some of us wear after game clothes to the game, so we wait to see what each other has on. Our lockerroom is pretty relaxed before a game, so it's pretty cool.
Dr. CJBEY from eng.morgan.edu at 6:29pm ET
Hi Allison! Congratulations on your win against the Rockers. As a university professor, I am wondering if you can tell us what your plans are after the WNBA?

Allison Feaster at 6:31pm ET
That's a great question, one I can't fully answer. Being a part of the WNBA has opened so many doors for me. I might pursue my original goal of working on Wall Street or do volunteer work or teach. But I'm not completely sure of what I want to do after basketball.
Sarah from proxy.aol.com at 6:31pm ET
Do you think that Dawn Staley's coaching ability helps the team out on the floor?

Allison Feaster at 6:32pm ET
I think Dawn has been instrumental in our success. She has so much knowledge of the game. I think her coaching ability has helped us. She helps me because she thinks differently. She sees things we don't see, as a point guard and a coach.
Jenna from proxy.aol.com at 6:32pm ET
Hey Allison! Congratulations! I am so happy you guys made it this far! What did it take for you to beat Cleveland, and how will you use it against New York? Good luck and beat New York!!

Allison Feaster at 6:34pm ET
It took a team effort to beat Cleveland. In the third game of the series, it took a big effort from our bench -- from Tonya Edwards and Shalonda Enis. I don't think Cleveland expected it. Against the Liberty we'll need the same effort off the bench and a concentrated effort on defense.
Ranee from proxy.aol.com at 6:34pm ET
Did the team do anything special for Charlotte (Smith) on her birthday (today)?

Allison Feaster at 6:35pm ET
We're having a surprise party at Houlihan's in Charlotte (tonight) for Charlotte. We all chipped in and bought a Coach handbag. Very fancy.

Allison Feaster at 6:36pm ET
Thanks for all your questions and for your support. We want to thank those who believed in us. We hope we don't disappoint in the next round.
