WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS GAME 3

Postgame Chat with Doris Burke

As part of the WNBA.com Postgame Show presented by IBM, ESPN analyst Doris Burke participated in a live chat following the Sparks' Game 3 win over the Monarchs in the Western Conference Finals. Here's what Burke had to say:

How do you think that the Sting will go about *attempting* to contain the force that is Lisa Leslie??
Doris Burke at 12:39am ET
You certainly cannot guard her with one person. I wouldn't be surprised to see Charlotte Smith matching up with Leslie. She's long, had great footwork. But no one can guard Lisa one on one, she's reminiscient of Cynthia Cooper in the postseason.
Terri from desm.uswest.net at 12:39am ET
What do you think was the key for LA tonight?
Doris Burke at 12:40am ET
Outside of Lisa Leslie, they've been a great team all year long. There were a lot of different factors tonight. One thing that gets overlooked is DeLisha Milton's defense. She kept Tina thompson and Yolanda Griffith in check. I was impressed with her abilities!
Lyndsie Kill from lima.da.wcoil.com at 12:40am ET
During the L.A. and Charlotte series, L.A. won both games. Has that added any pressure to the Sparks, or the other way around, taken any off of the Sting by putting them in the "underdog" position?
Doris Burke at 12:41am ET
I don't think those two games are significant for this series. Charlotte has evolved as a basketball team. Their performance in the postseason has been spectacular. It will be hard to play the same level of defense against a team with great firepower.
Whitey Bear from dsl.snfc21.pacbell.net at 12:42am ET
What exactly did LA do to shut down Ticha's 3-pt shooting? As far as I could tell, the defenders just kept an extra step closer to her, but not much else. I would have thought this would have allowed Griffith to avoid the double teams, but apparently not. Something was up, but I haven't figured out what.
Doris Burke at 12:42am ET
The difference being that instead of Mwadi being 2-3 feet away from Ticha, she took a step up and had a hand in Ticha's face. As much as the defense on Ticha was a factor in games 1 and 2, it wasn't about that tonight. It was about LA being the better team.
LoveUTbball from proxy.aol.com at 12:43am ET
Which series do you feel was the most exciting this year?? You've gotta love games that include superstars like Leslie, Griffith, Johnson, Spoon, Sam, etc...There are polls for the fans to decide which was the most intense, but what was your personal favorite??
Doris Burke at 12:43am ET
I think, I'm biased because I had a courtside seat for the West, but certainly the athleticism for Sacramento and Los Angeles. We saw phenomenal athletes with great skills, taking it to another level. We're seeing the future of this league.

What do you think Charlotte has to do to prepare for the championship games?
Doris Burke at 12:45am ET
Here's what I've admired about Anne Donovan: she was a great player and has played at the highest level. Just like Michael Cooper, she does a phenomenal job of preparing her team mentally. They have to address the mental aspect first and I think Anne Donovan does a great job of that. They showed tremendous poise against New York.
Sandi from proxy.aol.com at 12:45am ET
What an exciting game to watch! What will the key match ups be in the LA - Charlotte Championship?
Doris Burke at 12:46am ET
Key matchups are Charlotte Smith trying to defend Lisa Leslie and the question, who guards Andrea Stinson? She may be the single hardest player to guard in the open court. She's a player who's a triple threat.
Liberty Will Be Back Next Year from dyn.optonline.net at 12:46am ET
Who do you think will win the championship?
Doris Burke at 12:46am ET
Los Angeles!
