WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS GAME 1

Postgame Chat with Doris Burke

As part of the WNBA.com Postgame Show presented by IBM, ESPN analyst Doris Burke participated in a live chat following the Sparks' Game 1 win over the Monarchs in the Western Conference Finals. Here's what Burke had to say:

Doris Burke at 11:15pm ET
This game pitted the two most athletic best scoring teams the WNBA has to offer and it did not let us down. We had the best individual matchup with two of the best centers the game has ever known in Lisa and Yolanda. It was the supporting cast that made the difference.

Zulu at 11:16pm ET
What do you think was the key to the Sparks' win tonight?
Doris Burke at 11:16pm ET
Tamecka Dixon's dribble penetration skills made all the difference for LA. She got shots for herself and her teammates. Milton's ability to keep Yolanda in check off the glass was also big.
Edie at 11:16pm ET
How would you rate Yolanda Griffith's game? What did the Sparks do to contain her?

Doris Burke at 11:18pm ET
Delisha Milton and Byears gave her two differnt looks defensively. Byears is very physical, then Milton is the long 84" wingspan and is athletic. It forced Yo to take some tough shots. She ended up 5-of-16 and she only had six rebounds in the game after averaging 13 in the first two games of the playoffs. Those were 18 of the hardest earned points I've ever seen.
Sam at 11:18pm ET
Do the Monarchs have any chance in Game 2 down in LA? What should they do to come back?
Doris Burke at 11:19pm ET
No question they have a shot, they shot only 32% from the floor and only lost by 1 point. What they need to do is limit Dixon's dribble penetration and Mabika's 3-pointers.
Sac Fan at 11:19pm ET
What was the atmosphere like in Arco Arena tonight?

Doris Burke at 11:20pm ET
I don't think I've ever been at arco for a WNBA game where there was more energy from the crowd. Sacramento came out of the gates like gang-busters and the crowd was the biggest factor.
YAY WNBA at 11:20pm ET
How is Tamecka Dixon able to play with her injured foot? Is that why she lost her shoe?

Doris Burke at 11:21pm ET
I think Dixon showed her mental toughness tonight. She's had limited practice time over the last three weeks, but she found a way to tough it out and make tough shots and that says a lot about her character.
zach at 11:21pm ET
Penicheiro was more offensive-minded tonight ... why do you think that was?
Doris Burke at 11:21pm ET
She knew from the regular season series that Los Angeles was not going to guard her. They were going to give her the perimeter jump shot and whether she made them or not she had to take them.
Doris Burke at 11:23pm ET
Alright everyone, thanks for chatting, I'm off to preview Game 2 of this great series. See you all on Sunday on ESPN2!
