MIAMI CENTER SUFFERS RUPTURED ACHILLES' TENDON
 Sol's Askamp Out For Playoffs

MIAMI, Aug. 15 (AP) -- The Miami Sol placed center Marlies Askamp on the injured list Wednesday and activated center Levys Torres.

Askamp ruptured her Achilles' tendon in the Sol's loss to the Charlotte Sting on Tuesday night. She was to undergo surgery Wednesday.

Askamp averaged 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 30 games this season.

Torres, a rookie, played in two games for the Sol. She was on the injured list with tendinitis in her right knee.

Miami finished in third place in the Eastern Conference and will face the New York Liberty in the first round of the playoffs. The first game of the best-of-three is Friday night.
