A 27-year-old forward, Bertsch spent time last season with the Mercury and Wings, appearing in 11 games between the two clubs while averaging 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per contest. Bertsch will be vying for a reserve spot in Chicago's frontcourt.

Bertsch signed a hardship contract with Dallas last week after Maddy Siegrist went on the shelf with a broken finger. However, Natasha Howard returned to action over the weekend, forcing Bertsch off the roster. Bertsch made eight appearances with Phoenix earlier in the season and saw action in three games with Dallas before being let go. Last year, she started five of 28 appearances for the Sky, averaging 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game.
