WNBA Finals Notes

  • Rebekkah Brunson has become the first WNBA player in history to win five championships (2005, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017).
  • Sylvia Fowles has become the seventh player to win a regular season MVP and WNBA title in the same season and the fourth player to win multiple Finals MVP honors.
  • The Minnesota Lynx have tied the Houston Comets (1997-2000) for most WNBA championships in franchise history (4).
    Fowles posted her 20th postseason double-double in Game 5 and recorded a double-double in every Finals game.
  • Fowles grabbed 20 total rebounds, the most in Finals history, surpassing the mark of 17 she set in Game 2. With 10 rebounds in the first half, Fowles tied a Finals record for most rebounds in one half.
  • Maya Moore entered tonight’s game as the Finals all-time leader in points scored and increased her total to 441. Seimone Augustus entered ranked No. 2 and increased her total to 362. Lindsay Whalen entered ranked No. 3 and extended her total to 295. Brunson entered ranked No. 4 and raised her total to 278.

  • Brunson and Whalen entered Game 3 of The Finals already ranked No. 1 & No. 2 in Finals minutes played, and upped their respective totals to 906 & 843.
  • Moore entered the game ranked No. 1 in Finals field goals made and upped that total to 154. Augustus entered ranked 2nd and increased that figure to 148. Fowles entered ranked 3rd and increased her total to 118. Brunson entered ranked for 4th and raised her total to 109.
  • Sylvia Fowles entered ranked No. 2 in total blocks and increased that total to 31, taking over the No. 1 spot. Fowles entered ranked No. 2 in offensive and defensive rebounds and increased her totals to 68 & 132, respectively. Fowles entered No. 2 in total rebounds and increased her figure to 200.
  • Brunson entered the game ranked No. 1 in Finals total rebounds and increased that total to 210.

  • Moore entered Game 5 of the Finals already ranked No. 3 in postseason points and raised her total to 1,063 & Whalen entered ranked No. 4 and upped her total to 944.
  • Moore entered ranked 1st in postseason field goals made and increased her total to 372.
  • Brunson and Whalen entered tied for the top spot in games played and upped their total to 81 each.
  • Brunson entered as the all-time leader in personal fouls and extended her total to 216.
