DEFENDING CHAMPIONS KEEP ROLLING
Shock Cruise Past Lynx:

Getting Back on Track:

Griffith scored eight points in a key 18-0 second-half run that allowed Sacramento to pull past Washington in a 70-52 victory on Tuesday. Despite shooting only 36 percent from the field, the Monarchs used a 25-5 advantage on the offensive glass. “At times I felt that we shot the ball too fast, and we couldn’t hit anything. Everyone makes shots in practice; we need to transfer that over to the games.”
-- Chicago's Candice Dupree, commenting on the Sky's shooting troubles in their 72-56 loss to the Sparks on Tuesday.

When Lisa Leslie made the decision to sit out the season due to pregnancy, the Sparks went out and quickly acquired Taj McWilliams-Franklin from the Sun. On Tuesday, McWilliams-Franklin displayed the skill set that made her the perfect fit for Los Angeles' system as she did a little bit of everything in the Sparks' 81-64 victory over the Sky. McWilliams-Franklin finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks as her versatility earned Los Angeles a win in its first game of the season. The game marked the Sparks' first opening game without Leslie in franchise history.

Lindsey Harding of the Minnesota Lynx, the first overall pick in this year's WNBA draft, is finding out how tough the professional game actually is. The former Duke star was held to eight points on 3-of-12 shooting in the Lynx's 85-75 loss to the Shock on Tuesday, as Minnesota fell to 0-3 on the season. Still, Harding showed flashes of a future All-Star as she notched seven rebounds and six assists.
