Indiana Makes Franchise History
Fever Top Liberty for Fifth Straight:
It took three four-game winning streaks this season but the Indiana Fever have finally reached the five-in-a-row milestone. Led by Tan White's 16 points and six rebounds, the Fever took an early lead and cruised to a 79-63 home victory over the Liberty on Thursday night to post a five-game win streak in a single season for the first time in franchise history. The first-place Fever are happy with the win, but coach Brian Winters believes the streak may have come at the wrong time. "When you're playing well, you'd like to continue it going, but some down time for some of the players that have played quite a bit of minutes might be good for them at this point in time,'' he said. However, White thinks her squad will remain focused after the short vacation. "We're satisfied with the five (straight) wins, but I don't think overall, we're satisfied with the performance,'' White said. "There are some things we're going to have to work on when we get back.''

Sun Earn First Three-Game Winning Streak of the Season:
After finishing with the best overall record just a season ago, Connecticut was a disappointment during the first half of the 2007 season. But if there's any indication that the Sun can turn things around, they showed it on Thursday night in Sacramento. Lindsay Whalen made a layup with 4.1 seconds left in regulation and scored eight of her 22 in the extra period to help lead Connecticut to its third consecutive win with an 82-78 victory over the Monarchs. The fourth-year guard also added a game-high eight assists and five rebounds.

Although the 2007 class isn't quite as strong as last season's, there are still several rookies to keep an eye on as we approach All-Star Weekend. Unfortunately, Minnesota's Lindsey Harding won't be one of them. The Minnesota Lynx announced Thursday that Harding will miss the remainder of the 2007 season after a magnetic resonance imaging test confirmed a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. The first overall pick suffered the injury early in the third quarter of Tuesday's game against the Washington Mystics in Washington. She will undergo surgery at a later date.

Following a season-high three-game skid, Detroit is in the midst of one of the best offensive stretches in franchise history. And much of its recent success has to do with Plenette Pierson's play off the bench. On Thursday, Pierson poured in 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting as the Shock won their third straight, snapped a two-game road losing streak and completed a season sweep over the Sky with a 78-65 victory in Chicago. The fifth-year forward-center, who added nine rebounds (four offensive), is averaging 15 points and 11 boards during the winning streak.
