Monarchs Outlast Shock in Finals Rematch
Detroit Suffers First Road Defeat:
Facing elimination in Game 4 of the 2006 WNBA Finals, Detroit stunned the city of Sacramento with a blowout victory. The Shock went on to win the championship with a Game 5 triumph in Detroit and haven't slowed down on the road since. At least, not until Saturday. Making their first trip back to ARCO Arena, the Shock were handed their second loss of the season and first away from home with an 85-75 defeat to the Monarchs. Scholanda Robinson scored a season-high 13 points and Rebekkah Brunson added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Sacramento, which has won four of its last five. Deanna Nolan led the Shock with 23 points, while Katie Smith added 17.

Silver Stars Win Fourth Straight:
One team is on the rise in the Western Conference. The other is dropping fast in the East. On Saturday, San Antonio completed a season sweep over the Sun and rolled to its fourth straight victory with a 71-58 win in Connecticut. The Silver Stars, who haven't made the playoffs since moving from Utah to San Antonio in 2003, currently sit atop the Western Conference standings, while the Sun are in the basement of the Eastern Conference. Becky Hammon led San Antonio's attack with 20 points, and Sophia Young recorded 17 points and eight rebounds. Katie Douglas and Lindsay Whalen scored 15 apiece for the Sun, who have lost six of their last seven.

“We played so hard for 40 minutes and not even to get a chance at the end to make a play. They just took it away from us."

Playing against each other for the second time since swapping teams in a May 24 trade, both Monique Currie and Chasity Melvin posted good numbers on Saturday night. But despite Melvin's 14 points, nine rebounds and two assists, Currie's Mystics came out on top in a 99-86 decision in Chicago. Currie poured in 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and pulled in four rebounds. Washington has won three of its last five after an 0-8 start.

Fresh off a season-high 11 points in Friday's road win over the Liberty, Camille Little found a different way to contribute off the bench on Saturday. Little, the 17th overall selection out of North Carolina, took only one shot attempt, but grabbed a season-high seven rebounds to help guide San Antonio to a 71-58 triumph over the Sun. Meanwhile, Connecticut's rookie forward Kamesha Hairston went scoreless and had two rebounds in 14 minutes.
