Phoenix Ends Losing Streak in Indiana
Mercury Hand Fever First Home Loss:
Looking to remain perfect at home and post the longest single-season win streak in franchise history, the Indiana Fever were slowed by the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night. Led by Diana Taurasi's 11 fourth-quarter points, Phoenix outscored the Fever by 12 in the final 3:48 and snapped a five-game losing streak in Indiana with an 89-78 victory. Taurasi finished with 21 points, while Cappie Pondexter had 22. Former Fever guard Kelly Miller added nine points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Tamika Catchings registered 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Fever, who fell 1 1/2 games behind the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Shock. Indiana, which outscored opponents by an average of 18.0 points in its first six games at Conseco Fieldhouse this season, had won four in a row for the second time this season.
