Tamika Catchings Sets Yet Another Postseason Record
INDIANAPOLIS – Tamika Catchings has done her fair share of rewriting the record books this season. From playing in her record 10th All-Star game, to moving up the all-time list in points and rebounds, to the Fever making the postseason a record 11 straight times, Catchings’ name appears in the record books like advertisements on an Indy car.
While the record she set on Sunday night in a Game 4 win against the Minnesota Lynx is a little obscure, it’s another reminder of her prolonged excellence.
On Sunday, Catchings set the WNBA record for most postseason starts tonight at 65 — breaking a tie with Taj McWilliams-Franklin. The only postseason game Catchings did not started in her career was Game 3 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. That was a game where she did not start due to injury, but still came off the bench and played 24 minutes.
With that, it’s a good time to take a look and see what other postseason records Catchings holds. In fact, she now leads the WNBA in career playoff starts, points, rebounds, free throws, steals, double-doubles and games played.
