Sacramento Kings Honor 2005 Sacramento Monarchs

The Sacramento Kings made news this past offseason by hiring Nancy Lieberman as a full-time assistant coach. She became the second woman in league history to be hired as a full-time assistant coach. The first? None other than San Antonio Spurs assistant and San Antonio Stars legend Becky Hammon.

And as fate would have it, the Kings played host to the Spurs Monday night — a night that the Kings organization tabbed as Women in Sports night.

At halftime, the Kings honored the 2005 Sacramento Monarchs, who knocked off the Connecticut Sun to win the WNBA title that year.

Mo’ne Davis was on hand, as well as Jen Welter, who made history this NFL preseason as the first female assistant coach in the league.

Take a look at some of the sights from the night below.

Lieberman took to her Instagram account to post some pictures taken Monday night. Here she is with Mo’ne Davis and Jen Welter.

And here’s Lieberman with a fan by the name of Aubrey Graham, whose middle name is Drake.
