Chicago's Elena Delle Donne Named June Rookie of the Month

NEW YORK, July 1, 2013 -- The WNBA named Chicago Sky guard/forward Elena Delle Donne the Rookie of the Month for games played in June.

Delle Donne led all rookies in scoring (19.1 ppg), free-throw percentage (.938, 45-for-48), minutes (33.1 mpg), ranked second in blocks (2.0 bpg), third in rebounds (5.3 rpg) and assists (2.0 apg). Overall, she placed fourth in points and three-throw percentage, and fifth in blocks. Delle Donne contributed career-highs in points (26) and assists (six) to go with six rebounds and three blocks in an 87-74 win over New York on June 26. She also tied a career-best with eight rebounds on June 29, in a win against Los Angeles.

The second overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm, Delle Donne has posted double-digits in each of the Sky’s ten games, leading the team to a 7-3 record, second-best in the East. The Sky has won five straight home games, matching a franchise record set in 2009.

Highlights of Delle Donne’s month included:

  • June 16 vs. Atlanta: 25 points on 11-11 from the free-throw in an 88-74 loss.
  • June 26 vs. New York: Career-highs in assists (six) and points (26) on 10-17 shooting in an 87-74 win
  • June 29 vs. Los Angeles: Tied a career-high eight rebounds along with 20 points in a 94-82 win
