Indiana's Tamika Catchings, Tulsa's Liz Cambage Named WNBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week

NEW YORK, July 22, 2013 -- Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever and Elizabeth Cambage of the Tulsa Shock were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, July 15 through Sunday, July 21.

This marks the 19th time in her career that Catchings has been named Player of the Week, tying her for first all-time with Seattle’s Lauren Jackson. Catchings averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the Fever’s two games last week, a 77-70 win over Washington at home on July 19, and a 65-52 road victory against the Mystics two days later. For Cambage, the second overall selection in the 2011 WNBA draft, the Player of the Week honor is the first of her career. Cambage’s 16.3 points, 2.0 assists and conference-leading 13.3 rebounds guided the Shock to a 3-0 week. Her two double-doubles helped Tulsa defeat its opponents by an average of 20 points, including two 27-point wins.

In an 86-59 victory over Seattle on July 17, Cambage scored 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds. On July 19, she scored another 13 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass in a 64-58 win over Connecticut.
