Chicago's Delle Donne, Los Angeles' Parker Named WNBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week

NEW YORK, July 8, 2013 -- Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky and Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, July 1 through Sunday, July 7.

Delle Donne takes the Eastern Conference honor for the second consecutive week, after averaging nearly a double-double with 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in the Sky’s two games. She continued her streak of double-digit scoring efforts in each of Chicago’s first 12 games, while her 10-for-10 mark from the free-throw line improved her overall percentage to 95.5, tops in the WNBA.

In a 69-60 loss to Seattle on July 2, Delle Donne earned her first career double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds. To help defeat New York on July 7, she scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down six rebounds. Her point total in the 93-64 win also marked her seventh 20-plus point game of the season.

For Parker, the Western Conference Player of the Week nod is her second of the season and the 13th of her career. Averaging 21.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists, Parker led the Sparks to a 3-0 week in which they outscored the opposition by an average of 21.6 points.

In a 96-66 win over Western Conference leader Minnesota on July 2, Parker matched her season high in points with 27 and pulled down eight rebounds.
