Minnesota's Plenette Pierson to Retire After 2017 Season


According to a report by Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press, Minnesota Lynx forward Plenette Pierson will retire at the end of the 2017 season.

Pierson, a former All-Star and two-time champion, joined the Lynx this season after two years with the Dallas Wings. The 35-year-old has played 15 seasons in the WNBA.

“This is my last hurrah,” Pierson told Feinberg. “I’ve been thinking about this for the last two years and know it’s time to move on to something else. I’ve given a lot to the game and it’s given me a lot back.”

“I was originally going to announce it on my birthday, but I was never any good at keeping secrets,” she continued. “I’m happy it’s out there now and the fans know. I’ve always enjoyed the fans around the league.”
