The Miracle's Adrienne Johnson, who missed all of last season with a ruptured right Achilles tendon, scored 13 points. Three other Miracle starters joined Johnson in double digits, including second-year player Brooke Wyckoff, who recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Last year in her rookie campaign, Wyckoff's season highs were eight points and nine rebounds.
The Sol were led by second-round draft pick Lindsey Yamasaki from Stanford, who came off the bench to score 13 points, eight of which came in the second half.
The Miracle led 32-27 at the half and opened up the second half by going on a 10-1 run. Miami bounced back with a 17-2 run of its own to take a 45-44 lead with 8½ minutes remaining. Orlando would outscore the SOL 23-14 the rest of the way behind the play of Johnson and Wyckoff.
With the loss, the Sol moved to 1-1 in preseason play. The Miracle are now 1-0.
Next up for Orlando are the defending WNBA champion Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, May 19, at home. Miami faces the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, May 18, in Miami.
