July 31, 2013 --
Hey guys! Just want to check in with everyone and let you all know what I have been up to. Last week was a pretty crazy week. I left Chicago on Tuesday for our Game in Washington DC, planning on playing the game and then heading straight to New York for an interview. After NY, the plan was to go to Bristol, CT for an ESPN event and then right on to Uncasville for the All-Star Game. I was extremely excited for that weekend, but the plans had to shift when I sustained a concussion in our game against the Mystics. I left the game and the doctor began to do some tests. It was quickly apparent that I most likely wouldnt be able to play in the All-Star game. While I was really disappointed, I was still excited to go to Uncasville and participate in all of the All-Star Weekend events. It wasnt until I was about to leave for CT that the doctors decided that all of the activity and noise surrounding the All-Star Game could slow my progress towards recovering and getting back on the court.
When I learned that I would not have the opportunity to be a part of All-Star Weekend this year, I was very disappointed. While I knew that it was important for my health and recovery, I was still sad. I was sad not only for myself, but particularly for the loyal fans who voted to watch me play among the amazing talent of the other All Stars.
Now, I am feeling better and am taking my recovery day by day. I am doing everything that the doctors and trainers ask of me so that I can get back on the court with my teammates for the next part of the season. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to experience All Star games in the future of my career.
While I was at home during All-Star Break I had the chance to spend a lot of time relaxing with my family. It is a really exciting time for the family because my brother, Gene, and sister-in-law, Jennifer, are expecting a baby in mid-September. I could not be more excited for them! While I was home on Sunday, we had a little party to celebrate. It was really good to relax with close friends and family. I cant WAIT to be an aunt! Thats all for now.
