Dupree
TODAY'S TOP STORY
Sky-High Feeling: Chicago's new franchise just needed to get back to its roots. After the Sky won their first two preseason games and first regular-season game in their short history, they lost their next 13 straight. That streak ended on Thursday. Rookie Candice Dupree's 15 points and seven rebounds were key to Chicago earning its first-ever home win with its 75-69 victory over the Sting. Deanna Jackson and Jia Perkins added 10 points apiece for Chicago, which had just six total turnovers as a team.

ALSO MAKING HEADLINES ...
Farewell, Nikki: While the Sky said goodbye to their 13-game skid, they also parted ways with guard Nikki McCray. McCray, once the face of the Washington Mystics' franchise, retired on Thursday as a member of the Sky after an eight-year career in which she scored over 2,500 points and started in three All-Star games. Chicago coach Dave Cowens told the Chicago Sun Times, "Nikki is a true icon of women's basketball and has had an amazing career."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"You definitely put it behind you. You can't dwell on it, positively or negatively, or you end up wanting (the next game) too bad."

-- Houston forward Tina Thompson, on bouncing back to score 22 points in the Comets' 83-76 home win over Washington after scoring a career-low two points in her last game.

Catchings
FILLING THE BOX SCORE
When Tamika Catchings turns in a double-double, the Indiana Fever win. It's that simple. Catchings contributed 17 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in a 66-56 home win over the Shock on Thursday, snapping Detroit's six-game winning streak. The double-dip was Catchings' fourth of the season, and Indiana is 4-0 in those contests.

Abrosimova
SHINING OFF THE BENCH
Svetlana Abrosimova started all 31 games she played in for the Lynx last season, but through 15 games this year she subbed in after tip-off in all but one outing. Thursday her trip off the bench was an eventful one as she scored 16 points and added four rebounds and four assists in Minnesota's
87-78 loss to the Monarchs.
