Augustus
TODAY'S TOP STORY
One-Two Punch: Just a few short months ago they posed for draft day photos with smiling faces, on Sunday, they faced off. No. 1 selectee Seimone Augustus led her Minnesota Lynx to a
94-82 home win over No. 2 pick Cappie Pondexter's Mercury. Both players proved they belonged at the top of the draft board as Augustus tied a season-high with 32 points to go with seven rebounds and Pondexter poured in 22 points with four steals.

ALSO MAKING HEADLINES ...
There's Something About Mwadi: Lisa Leslie gets all the recognition as the franchise player of the Sparks, but she has had a steady running mate the whole time. Mwadi Mabika, like Leslie, is one of the league's original players and has played her whole career for L.A. On Sunday she had one of the best games in her decade of play. Mabika scored 10 of her season-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Sparks to an 80-69 home win over the Monarchs.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"Every time she was on the court (tonight) I told her if you don't shoot it I'm going to take you out. She started letting it go and she was special. Every game certain players fit the puzzle different ways and this game Mwadi had a bigger chunk of the puzzle."

-- Los Angeles head coach Joe Bryant on his substitution strategy for Mwadi Mabika who tied a WNBA record with seven 3-pointers in the Sparks' 80-69 home win over Sacramento.
