Thompson
GAME OF THE NIGHT
Sheryl Swoopes returned to the lineup after missing the last three games due to back spasms, but her comeback would be short-lived. Swoopes scored all 11 of her points in the first half before exiting the game with an ankle injury in the third period on Wednesday. Houston, which was 1-2 with Swoopes on the bench in streetclothes, seemed to struggle once she left the contest. Sacramento made a second-half run and the two teams headed into overtime. But then the Comets would turn to their other superstar, Tina Thompson. Thompson ignited a 7-0 run to begin the extra period and scored eight of her season-high 26 points in OT to secure the Comets a 73-66 road win.

Young Gun: Rookie Seimone Augustus is off to a torrid start this season, and with her 32-point outburst on Wednesday, moved ahead of Diana Taurasi as the scoring leader at 25.8 ppg. The former LSU standout and first overall pick is battling fellow rookie Cappie Pondexter (currently third) for the top slot.

McConnell-Serio

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

--Minnesota coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said after rookie Seimone Augustus scored 32 of her team's 66 points.

Powell
FILLING THE BOXSCORE
Nicole Powell drained a clutch layup to force overtime, but her Monarchs dropped a 73-66 road decision to the Comets on Tuesday. But Powell displayed her versatility, collecting 11 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block in the loss.

Johnson
SHINING OFF THE BENCH
With Seattle having lost two straight and Minnesota having won two in a row, it seemed as if the Storm was going to have to find a little extra from somewhere else on Wednesday. That little extra came in the form Tiffani Johnson, who scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting to help the Storm capture a 74-66 home win.
