Catchings Vows Team Will Be Ready For Game 3

MINNEAPOLIS – Tamika Catchings was shaking during her postgame press conference on Tuesday night.

Catchings, who played a postseason-low 24 minutes due to foul trouble, was shaking because she was “frustrated” by being forced to watch too much of Game 2, a 77-72 Fever loss to the Lynx, from the sidelines.

Catchings is one of the greatest competitors this sport has ever seen, man or woman, so her fire was understandable. Catchings, however, was quick to offer praise to her teammates that were able to keep the Fever in the game with their star on the bench. In fact, the rest of the team’s preparedness can likely be traced back to Catchings’ leadership in the first place.

Catchings immediately assumed the role of leader after the game and revealed the message she had for her team.

“We are going to bottle up every sense of frustration, every sense of anger, every sense of knowing what we didn’t do and what we didn’t accomplish tonight,” she said. “Put that in a bottle and let it explode when we get back home.”

With the series tied 1-1, Game 3 will be in Indiana on Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

“The best fans in the WNBA are going to be in the house,” Catchings said. “And we’re going to come and we’re going to be ready.”
