Former All-Stars Candace Parker, Sylvia Fowles Make Season Debuts

Candace Parker is a two-time MVP. Sylvia Fowles is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. Both are three-time All-Stars, and both happened to make their 2015 season debuts on the same court on Wednesday night.

Two of the biggest difference-makers to watch down the stretch collided as Fowles and the Lynx downed Parker and the Sparks, 82-76, at the Target Center.

Both appeared to be shaking off rust gathered while sitting out for the first seven weeks of the season — Fowles after requesting a trade from the Chicago Sky (she was finally traded to Minnesota on Monday) and Parker while recuperating from a stint overseas. Yet they each flashed the impact potential they have on two teams that could meet again in the playoffs this September.

Fowles posted 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in 26 minutes, bringing an immediate interior presence to a team that already ranks first in Defensive Rating. Parker played a facilitating role in an offense that features four other past/present All-Stars, tallying a career-high 9 assists to go along with 12 points and 7 boards.
