WNBA To Help in Fight Against Breast Cancer with Breast Health Awareness Week

– Highlights Include First-Ever Pink Court in San Antonio, Commemorative Pink-and-White Home Team Uniforms and Shooting Shirts Worn During Games on ESPN2 and NBA TV –

NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2013 – The WNBA, its teams and players are proudly supporting the effort to fight breast cancer by raising awareness and funds during WNBA Breast Health Awareness Week August 18-24.

The WNBA is bringing attention to this important cause during six nationally televised games on ESPN2 and NBA TV. WNBA Breast Health Awareness branded pink-and-white game uniforms will be worn by home teams – the Atlanta Dream (Aug. 18, 20, and 24), Seattle Storm (Aug. 20), Tulsa Shock (Aug. 23), and Phoenix Mercury (Aug. 23). Additionally all WNBA players will wear commemorative shooting shirts, pink headbands, wristbands and socks throughout the week.

“There’s lots of excitement heading into the 2013 season. Fueled by the anticipated draft class, ESPN has decided to move the telecast of the WNBA Draft presented by State Farm into a primetime window on April 15th and to tip off our broadcast season with a doubleheader on Memorial Day,” said Laurel J Richie, WNBA President. “Needless to say, we think this is a wonderful way to start the season.”
