The countdown to the WNBA’s 20th season is officially on.

May 26: Ogwumike Night in Connecticut

The sisters from Stanford have both already gone No. 1 in the WNBA Draft, won Rookie of the Year, and played against each other in the pros. But their next meeting will hold special meaning after Nneka and Chiney — of the Sparks and Sun, respectively — battled through injuries in 2015.

May 27: WNBA Finals Rematch in Minnesota

What better way to tip off a jam-packed Memorial Day Weekend slate than with a Finals rematch? Nearly eight months after their epic series ended with a winner-take-all Game 5 (which the Lynx took), the Fever get a chance at revenge — deep in enemy territory at the Target Center.

June 3: East Finals Rematch in New York

Want to see team ball at its best? The Fever and Liberty embodied it in 2015 and fittingly met in the Eastern Conference Finals. With players like Tamika Catchings, Briann January, Tina Charles and Epiphanny Prince leading the way, the rematch promises to be another grit-and-grind battle. Their semifinal series came down to a decisive Game 3 at the Garden in September.

June 14: No. 1 vs. No. 2?

Draft classes are forever tied to a player’s career, and June 14 could very well be the first chance to compare the top two rookies selected in the 2016 Draft; that’s the first time the Seattle Storm and San Antonio Stars, owners of the first and second overall picks this April, play at the AT&T Center.

Connecticut teammates Breanna Stewart and Moriah Jefferson could very well be that pair, with South Carolina’s Tiffany Mitchell also in the mix.

June 16: Notre Dame’s Finest in Action

Jewell Loyd followed Skylar Diggins’ footsteps to Notre Dame — they overlapped as teammates for one season — and then to the top of the WNBA Draft. Now Loyd hopes her Storm can make a similar leap to Diggins’ Shock as two of the league’s up-and-coming teams.

The former Fighting Irish stars faced twice a year ago, and they square off again in mid-June in what could become a budding West rivalry.
