(6/9) Postgame Quotes

Trudi Lacey

On tonightís performance:
I thought that we played with a great deal of intensity. We didnít get discouraged when we got down. They played with the heart of a champion. They played as a team. And we came out with the win.

On injuries:
We had to make a few adjustments. But one thing about the team, theyíre resilient and we have versatility. So theyíre willing to do whatever it takes for the team to be successful.

On performance of post players:
We have a great post presence in Nicky Anosike and Crystal Langhorne. They complement each other very well, so that was part of our game plan. To establish a post presence. They made some great plays down the stretch and some good defensive plays. But it was the whole team, everyone played very well. Iím very proud of them.

On difference in the second half:We settled down and made some plays. We took away some of their transition baskets. In the first half we were turning the ball over and giving them some easy layups. During the second half we settled down and executed our half court offense. We got defensive stops and rebounded the ball. Those things made a difference.

Nicky Anosike

On tonightís game:
This was a stressful game. We kept going back and forth. Weíd get the lead down to two, then look up and be down by 10 again. The biggest thing was not giving up. We just had to keep pushing little by little.

On scoring a career high 29 points:
Our main scorer (Alana Beard) is out, so Iím depended on a lot more to score. If I donít, itíll be hard for us to win. I just have to come out to every game with a scorerís mentality. Its different from in the past when I didnít have to score that much. But now I have to take it upon myself to score as well.

On fourth quarter performance:
I think we knew that going into the game, nobody believed in us. Throughout the league, people donít expect us to have a successful season. Nobody except ourselves thought we could win tonight. That really fueled us. Especially in the fourth quarter, it was either play now or go home with another loss.

Crystal Langhorne

On end of regulation:
We finally got some stops and some rebounds. They were beating us in the transition game and we just had to do better at making stops.

On what to take away from this game:
Weíre a good team. We have a lot to get better at, but we can beat anybody.

On overtime performance:
We just kept fighting. We were down pretty much the whole game, but once we got to overtime we knew we could win, so we just kept playing hard, kept fighting & came out with the win.
