Matee Ajavon returned to action for Istanbul University. Against Samsun, Ajavon led her to team with 23 points and six assists. She was perfect from the free throw line going 10-10 as Istanbul won 71-65. Istantbul couldn’t keep up with TED Kayseri, losing 63-49. Ajavon was 4 for 10 from the field, finishing the game with 13 points. The losing streak continued for Istanbul as they lost 84-77 to Ceyhan BLD. Ajavon led all scorers with 22 points, and also had four assists and three steals.
"Things in Turkey aren't going as well as I would like it to but I am continuing to grow as a player," said Ajavon. "My team will not make it to the next round so I will be home soon to begin getting ready for the upcoming season in D.C."
Mystics newcomer guard Maurita Reid is currently playing in Croatia for Gospic. In a recent matchup against Vozdovac, Gospic lost a close one 77-73. She recorded 14 points, seven rebounds and added four assists. Gospic bounced back against Jolly with an 81-76 victory. Reid was spectacular and led all scorers with 29 points and five assists. She also added six rebounds. In a rematch against Vozdovac, Reid and her teammates crushed their opponent 98-70. She contributed eight points and six assists. Gospic couldn’t keep their winning streak going and lost their next game 88-67 to Merkur Celje. In spite of the loss, Reid put on another great performance, scoring 22 points, going 4 for 7 from the three point line.
Marissa Coleman continues her solid play for Sopron. Against powerhouse Ros Casares, Sopron was defeated handily 86-63. Coleman added eight points and five rebounds.
Ashley Houts and Elitzur Netanya took on one of the top teams in the Israeli league, Electra Ramat and found themselves on the losing end 70-60. Houts scored six points and dished out five assists. Houts and her teammates didn’t fare any better in a rematch with Ramat, losing 93-80. Houts had a better performance, recording 13 points and three steals in the loss.
