MYSTICS HEAD COACH TRUDI LACEY

Overall thoughts on the game:
“We did a lot of good things. I thought our defense the second half was much [better] except we just didn’t do a good job of boxing out when we needed to. Mistie Mims had a lot of offensive boards and we had a tough time second half with Tina Charles. We had an opportunity down the stretch, and again, made some not so great decisions and weren’t able to close the game out. We remind ourselves that we’re playing with two young point guards and trying to teach in those situations. It’s a really good learning [situation] for us but I was very proud of the way we fought back and I thought that we executed much better after having coming off of a long road trip. I was more pleased with their effort than the last time that we were at home.”

On the teams’ execution:
“Our ball movement was really good for three quarters of the game. I felt like late in the fourth quarter again, kind of the dragon’s head rose again, in terms of us holding on to the ball too much and the offense becoming stagnant. We ended up taking long shots at the end of the shot clock which is an area that we continue to work on, but close games you have to make plays down the stretch.”

MYSTICS FORWARD CRYSTAL LANGHORNE

Overall thoughts on the game:
“We’re playing better but we’re still not winning so it’s tough. We’re not executing down the stretch and messing up on defense, missing block outs, and things like that. You can’t beat people when you’re messing up on the little things. You always think you’re going to make plays down the stretch no matter what it is. Every night we’re coming and we’re expecting to win so that’s the thing we have to keep believing. It’s tough with the way things are going but you wouldn’t be a basketball player if you didn’t expect to make a play.”

On her first half performance:
“I knew they weren’t going to let me keep shooting the ball, but we still played well. Other people were hitting shots, it’s just that at the end of game we didn’t execute when we needed to.”

On the next matchup versus Los Angeles:
“I think it’s going to be a really big game especially with Alana [Beard] and Marissa [Coleman] coming back. Then having Candace Parker here; I just think it’s going to be a really big game on Friday.”
