Mystics Sign Ivory Latta

Washington D.C. -- Washington Mystics Head Coach and General Manager Mike Thibault announced today that free agent guard Ivory Latta has signed with the team.

"I am very excited with Ivory's decision to come to Washington. I strongly believe she can be a catalyst for our turnaround, said Thibault. Her improvement over the last two seasons has been terrific and she will help fill our need for a point guard that will push the tempo, can penetrate to score or create for her teammates and feed the post. Our fans will love the excitement and professionalism that she will provide on and off the court."

A five year WNBA veteran, Latta has spent the last three seasons with the Tulsa Shock. Last season, she set career highs in numerous categories, including field goal percentage (.430), points (14.3) and rebounds (2.2) per game. She was originally selected in the first round (11th overall) of the 2007 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. Following her rookie campaign, Latta was acquired in the Dispersal Draft by the Atlanta Dream, where she played for two seasons.

I am honored that I have the opportunity to play for the Washington Mystics, said Latta. I look forward to working with my teammates to make this team a playoff contender.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Latta led her team to back-to-back Final Four appearances. She earned numerous honors, including All-ACC First Team and AP All-American and was a finalist for the Wade Trophy. Latta has the distinction of being the all-time leading scorer in South Carolina high school history with a total of 4,319 career points. Mystics season tickets are available now, starting at just $99 per seat. To purchase, call the Mystics sales office at 877.DCHOOP.1 or visit washingtonmystics.com.
