Mystics And Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield Partnership Entering Fifth Year

CareFirst Will Donate $100 for Every Made Mystics Three-Pointer

WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Washington Mystics and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) will continue their partnership of the “Community 3’s” initiative for the fifth consecutive year. As the sponsor of the Community 3’s initiative, CareFirst will donate $100 to the March of Dimes Mama and Baby Bus for every three-pointer made by the Mystics this season. This mobile medical unit provides education, prenatal care and improved access to healthcare for women in Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s County. In addition, CareFirst and the Mystics will host their fourth annual diaper drive. This year’s drive will be held on September 13 when the Mystics host the Connecticut Sun. The collected diapers will benefit the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Stork’s Nests, a March of Dimes program that provides prenatal education and incentives for low-income, pregnant women. The Mama and Baby Bus will also be at the diaper drive. In 2012, the Mystics made 144 three-pointers and CareFirst donated $14,400 to the March of Dimes as a part of the Community 3’s initiative and collected over 20,000 diapers for the Stork’s Nests during the diaper drive.

Season tickets for the 2013 season are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Mystics Sales Office at 1-877-DC-HOOP1 or by visiting the Mystics website at www.washingtonmystics.com.
