D.C. Lottery and Washington Mystics Host Professional Clinic for Women Reentering the Workforce

Washington, D.C. – A proud community partner, the D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board is a cosponsor of the “Be Prepared for Success” Clinic on August 15, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dewar’s Club inside of the Verizon Center. In conjunction with the Washington Mystics and Suited for Change, the clinic is being held to assist 50 low-income women who are seeking to reenter the workforce.

At the clinic, the women will be advised on interviewing, image, and resume preparation. They will also receive professional clothing that the D.C. Lottery, Washington Mystics, and Suited for Change received during the Ladies Networking Night in July at the Verizon Center. Fans of all three organizations donated more than 300 articles of clothing.

Additionally, the event will include a:

• Makeup Counter;
• Mix and Match – A demonstration on how to pair up clothing and accessorize outfits, and
• Mock interviews with HR staff

“We are pleased to participate in an event that supports women in the city actively seeking employment, interested in learning how to make themselves marketable, and willing to take steps to improve their professional opportunities,” said the D.C. Lottery’s Executive Director Jeffrey “Jay” Young. “Through this outreach effort, the D.C. Lottery is truly in partnership with the community and will continue to deliver the spirit of winning to the city and its residents.”

"We are excited to partner with D.C. Lottery and Suited for Change on this important initiative," Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb stated. "This event will provide valuable insight for women looking to reenter the workforce by delivering tips on how to enhance their personal brand. We are proud to be a part of this important process and to help women of the greater Washington, D.C. area better their lives."
