Jones and Morehead Waived; Jaclyn Johnson Signs with Team

The Washington Mystics waived Guard Cathy Joens and Forward Tashia Morehead. Joens had signed with the team as a free agent, while Morehead was selected in the third round (32nd overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft. Forward Mactabene Amachree joined the team today following her overseas commitment.

Washington also signed Forward Jaclyn Johnson. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Johnson was drafted in 2001 by the Orlando Miracle and has played in Turkey for the last few months. Washington will make the final cut on May 20th. The Mystics training camp roster is as follows:

The 2005 Mystics season kicks off on Saturday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. when the team travels to Charlotte to take on the Sting. Washington will have its home opener on Sunday, May 22nd at 6:00 p.m. versus Eastern Conference Champions Connecticut Sun.
