NEW YORK, June 20 -- In conjunction with the 2002 WNBA All-Star Game, the WNBA will hold its annual basketball festival, WNBA All-Star Summer Jam, in Washington D.C. Summer Jam, a free interactive basketball experience, will be held on 5th and G Streets, NW on Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15. WNBA All-Star Summer Jam will contain more than 50,000 square feet of basketball activities, clinics and live musical performances that will appeal to fans of all ages. It also give fans the opportunity to meet their favorite women basketball players and coaches as they come and enjoy the event.

Center Court, the heart of Summer Jam, will feature non-stop WNBA-style activities and entertainment and hosts a jam-packed schedule that will include: basketball clinics with WNBA players and coaches; high energy performances by Mystics Mayhem, the Mystics kids dance troop; Reebok fashion dancers and mascot performances as well as appearances by the fan entertainment group the Sports Magic Team. Center Court will also feature Jr. WNBA/Jr. NBA games and clinics, as well as WNBA Reading Time-Outs and fan contests. Fans can also see the world's number one female in-line skater and ESPN X Games Gold Medallist, Fabiola da Silva.

“WNBA All-Star Summer Jam has something for everyone and will bring the excitement of WNBA basketball to thousands of fans who will take part in WNBA All-Star 2002,” said Gail Hunter, NBA, Vice President Events and Attractions.

At Summer Jam, younger fans can enjoy activities at the L’Oreal Kids Zone, while hard core fans try out Nike Crash the Boards, Summer Jam’s trampoline basketball activity for high flyers. WNBA fans can also test their shooting skills on Quick Shot and their dunking skills at the U.S. Airways Slam Dunk Courts.

In addition to non-stop basketball activity, Summer Jam gives WNBA fans the opportunity to relax at the Dasani Cool Zone, bid on special WNBA items at the Sears Breast Health Awareness Auction tent or take a time-out at a Gatorade Thirst station. For the wannabe announcers out there, fans will get a chance to call the play-by-play for some of the biggest games in WNBA history at the ESPN You Make The Call.

Also featured at Summer Jam, the Yahoo! Sports NBA Rhythm n’ Rims presented by Reebok vehicle, which houses interactive basketball activities including: the Staged Slam Dunk area where fans can create an image of themselves dunking that will be available for e-mailing to friends and making prints on Yahoo! Photos; NBA Measure Up activities where fans can measure their hand size, foot size and height compared with those of their favorite WNBA and NBA players; and a monitor allowing fans to view the top 50 plays and players in NBA history on DVD.

The Launch Music stage will showcase live up-and-coming musical acts including Dreamworks recording artist Floetry, Exhale and 4Shades of Real Deal Entertainment, and Big 3 Entertainment recording artist Prymary Colorz. Fans will also have the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite WNBA stars on the Launch Music stage. Summer Jam will be free and open to the public Sunday, July 14, 12:00pm to 7:30pm and Monday July 15, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
