2002 All-Star Events and Information

Voting is over, and WNBA players across the nation are anxiously awaiting the showdown between this year’s WNBA All-Star teams. With just a few days to go until this year’s All-Star Game, Washington, D.C. is heating up for an action-packed All-Star weekend.

Across the country, fans are boarding their flights and driving from all over the country in anticipating of this year’s All-Star festivities. With the entire arena sold out, fans and players alike are looking forward to a loud, energetic crowd and an action-packed game.

With the All-Star game just around the corner, players and fans are growing in eagerness, and the Washington Mystics are not preparing to disappoint the anxious mob of fans that are invading the city from all corners of the U.S. With a jam-packed weekend of entertaining events for fans of all ages, Washington, D.C. is undergoing its transformation into a basketball paradise on All-Star weekend.

The action begins on Saturday, July 13th with the Mystics game against the New York Liberty. Festivities will be held throughout the weekend, ending Monday evening with the intense showdown of East versus West.     Doors open 12:30 p.m., Game tips-off at 1:30 p.m.
    All-Star action kicks off with the Washington Mystics game against the New York Liberty at 1:30pm. For tickets call 202-432-SEAT or visit any TicketMaster outlet, MCI Center Box Office or www.ticketmaster.com.

  • Sunday, July 14th
    2002 WNBA All-Star Summer Jam
    12:00 noon – 7:30 p.m.
    5th & G Streets, NW (adjacent to MCI Center)
    This event is free and open to the public. Take Metro to Gallery Place/Chinatown stop.

    2002 WNBA All-Star Summer Jam
    12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m.

    Don’t miss the highlight of the weekend as the Eastern Conference All Star team tries to overcome the Western team for their first victory. Limited supply of tickets still available at MCI Center Box Office, PhoneCharge 202-432-SEAT, all TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

    This year’s WNBA All-Star Summer Jam will be held on Sunday, July 14th from 12:00pm – 7:30pm, and on Monday, July 15th from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. Summer Jam will be located one block east of the MCI Center, at 5th and G Streets, NW Washington DC.

    The event will be free to everyone who wants to attend, and will comprise of a 50,000 square foot block-party with multiple open-air tents and interactive basketball activities. Activities and entertainment that will be held at the 2002 Summer Jam are listed below:

    Coming to Washington, DC this July, don’t miss the 2002 WNBA All-Star Game!

    Catch all the excitement on Monday, July 15th at the MCI Center, when the brightest stars go head to head in an East vs. West showdown!

    Kids, don’t forget to bring your parents to WNBA All-Star Summer Jam on the Sunday and Monday afternoons before the All-Star game. Summer Jam is a free special event that is jam-packed with great games, awesome activities, cool concerts, and even WNBA player appearances and autograph sessions! The Mystics Mayhem will perform and Charm will drop by too! You will even be able to find an exclusive Kids Zone!

    *Please note, bags or items larger than a briefcase such as dufflebags, coolers, or large backpacks will not be allowed in MCI Center, Summer Jam or any other WNBA All-Star venues.
