Erica (Lauderhill): Hi Alana, Sorry to hear that you're hurting. Get well soon. This Mystics team seems to have a lot of potential. What are your goals for the season? ...get better soon.
Alana Beard: I go through the season prepared to win a championship, of course, that is something that I always focus on.
Temeka Johnson: I agree with Alana, but since I'm just a rookie, I will let Alana and other leaders on the team set the tone and I will do everything I can to help us win.
Samaria (Ferndale, MI): Hi Temeka! Congradulations on making it to the WNBA. You're a big inspiration to me, because I'm 14 and 5'2'', and I hope to be int the WNBA. What adive do you give me on making it there?
Temeka Johnson: First of all, thank you very much for the nice words. My advice would be to never, ever give up. Don't let anyone tell you that you're too small, or anything like that. You just keep working hard and good things will happen.
Alisha C (Shreveport, LA): Hey, Alana...glad you are doing well, but you always said you would put the hometown on the map. How do you like having another Louisiana Woman on the team in Tameka?
Alana Beard: Hi, I think it's OK. Tameka is a great player, and even though she is a rookie, I don't think she's ever gotten the memo that she is a rookie! But she will be a great help to us and of course, it's terrific to have another Louisiana player on the team.
Courtney: How do you think your backcourt tandem will match up against more experienced teams?
Alana Beard: That's our goal, to have one of the best backcourts in the WNBA. We have players who bring a lot to the game, who can all do good things, and we want to reach that goal of having a great bacckcourt.
Temeka Johnson: I agree. Playing with Alana and my other teammates, I think we can be really good. It should be a great experience competing with the other guards in the league and I'm really looking forward to it.
Rochester: tamika how different is it from college ball to the pro's and do you miss your old team mates
Temeka Johnson: It's a little faster, and a little more physical. Of course, I miss my old teammates, but I'm started to enjoy my new relationships with my teammates here, and that's how things go in sports.
jazz Ga.: AB, did you have any effect on Mo Currie's decision to stay at Duke?
Alana Beard: That's a good question. I gave my input, but I don't think I influenced it in any way. Ultimately it was her decision and I think she made a great decision, but other than lending my support and answering whatever questions she had, that was all I really contributed. It was up to her and I'm happy she is pleased with her decision.
Dray (Baton Rouge, LA): Temeka, are you able to utilize the things that Pokey taught you at LSU?
Temeka Johnson: Ha-ha (Laughing) Yeah, I like to think so, she is a great coach with great experience and helped me elevate my game. I can now take that knowledge and guidance and add it to what Coach Adubato is teaching us now and keep improving as a player and help us win games.
Ryan F. (Tiburon, CA): Hi Alana! I know you're an all-around great player, but do you have a Goto move or a certain play called for you that you like?
Alana Beard: I like the play that's called, "Give Alana the Ball" I'm just kidding, that is just a joke. Honestly people have been playing me to my left and this summer I worked really hard on making the same moves to my right to counter that.
tj(d.c): how has it been working with coach adubato?
Alana Beard: Coach is cool. He is very confident and knowledgable in every aspect of the game. He breaks it down and makes us work on the fundamentals and I really like that. He's great.
Temeka Johnson: I second, everything Alana said about the coach. Being a rookie, his concentration on the fundamentals is great for me, as I can start from scratch with him and do things just the way he wants it to be done. He's a terrific teacher.
Rashanti (pasco,WA): Hey Alana! I would like to ask what do you think about having your former college teammate Iciss Tillis teaming up with you again on the Washington Mystics? Good look during the season!
Alana Beard: Thank you. It's good to have Iciss on the team. She's like my sister and it's great on and off the court to have somebody who you have known for years and enjoy being with.
Ali That Girl, Orlando: Hey Alana and Tameka what songs get you crunk before games?
Alana Beard: I listen to gospel music, Mary-Mary.
Temeka Johnson: Me too, and I listen to Ruben too.
Cameron Crazy #22: Out of the both of u which is the more of a prankster?
Temeka Johnson: The answer is ALANA BEARD!
Alana Beard: Oh you know me, I just do what I do (Laughing).
TonyL222(Reston,VA): Hello AB. How do you handle the pressure of now having the Mystics being called "your team." Let's DO the * Thang!!
Alana Beard: That's a great question, but I don't consider it pressure. Maybe last year, the answer would be different, but being here for a year and getting to know everyone, I really feel comfortable and happy here and I'm happy about helping to lead us as a team. I'm all good.
Alana Beard: I just want to thank everyone for sending in their questions and I hope to see you on Opening Night May 22 against the Connecticut Sun.
Temeka Johnson: I'd like the thank everyone for their questions and thank you to all the fans. And please call 202-661-5050 and order your Mystics tickets!!
