Sacramento selected Haynie in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft. In her three seasons with the Monarchs she averaged 14.8 minutes, 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals per game. Haynie was a member of the 2005 WNBA Championship team and advanced to the Playoffs all three seasons with Sacramento including, back-to-back Western Conference Titles (2005, 2006).
“We hate to lose Kristin,” said Monarchs General Manager John Whisenant. “She’s a great, young player and a good person. We hope her move to Atlanta will allow her to play some continuous minutes and become a top point guard in the WNBA and eventually an All-Star. Everyone in Sacramento will continue to root for Kristin, along with the rest of the Haynie-acs.”
The 2008 WNBA Draft will be held on April 9, 2008, beginning at 1pm EST. Sacramento currently holds the 10th overall pick (First Round) in the upcoming Draft and two third round selections (38th and 40th overall). The Monarchs will open the WNBA season on May 17, at ARCO Arena, at 7pm, as they take on their 2007WNBA Playoff first round opponent, the San Antonio Silver Stars.
